ABOUT

Adam Sams is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist living in the cozy town of North Augusta, SC, near the banks of the Savannah River. You can probably find him out on his kayak waiting for a new song to float downstream.

He is currently writing and recording for Timber Choir, an indie folk duo with Nashville-based producer/engineer/mixer and lifelong friend Brendan St. Gelais. Together they have released two albums and numerous singles since 2020. Their music is characterized by thoughtful acoustic layering, intricate vocal textures, and lyrical snapshots of daily life. Timber Choir is a celebration of the slower pace - finding fulfillment in enduring relationships and shared place.

Adam has pursued many musical endeavors over the past decade - writing and recording two solo albums, collaborating on friends’ projects in the studio and on the road, and touring the U.S. extensively. His album Tightwire (produced by Don Chaffer of Waterdeep) showcases Adam’s ability to weave together meaningful lyrics and beautiful melodies, as well as his musicianship as a guitarist, drummer, bassist, keyboardist and composer.

On the road, Adam has performed as a solo artist alongside fellow songwriters including Corey Kilgannon and Patrick Taylor (Trash Panda), and also as a guitarist and vocalist in Atlanta-based folk band Besides Daniel. Adam grew up playing music in the Murray Hill Theatre scene in Jacksonville, FL, where he sang and played keyboards and guitar in folk-rock band Don’t Sigh Daisy for several years. Adam has opened for many of his musical heroes, including Jon Foreman (Switchfoot), Aaron Gillespie (Underoath), John Mark McMillan, and House of Heroes.

These days, Adam is cultivating a slower, more grounded life with his wife and children in North Augusta. He recently went back to school and earned a degree in ecology. Adam is most at home when he’s writing songs, baking bread, and tending to his vegetable garden and honey bee colonies. Music is one of the few parts of his life that has remained constant, ever since he was a 9-year old kid learning to play guitar. Each day finds Adam on the back porch, discovering a new melody to hum along until it finds a place to rest.
